Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a natural alternative for the medication methotrexate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
An alternative would inhibit the same enzyme that methotrexate inhibits. I very much doubt if there is a natural product that does that. This drug is used to treat a variety of conditions. I would rather look for natural alternatives for treating the disorder that the drug is being used for.
I'm saying this here even though Pfeiffer's Law states that if we know how a medicine works, we can use a natural substance that does the same thing. This is usually true, but I can't see how to apply it in this case.

Thanks for responding. The reason I have asked this question is because I have iritis and I would like to know what natural alternatives are there to treat this besides methotrexate. As you know, methotrexate is a powerful drug, even in low doses, with possibly really bad side effects. I would rather not go this route for treatment so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MMW
I really know nothing about iritis, but I personally would take HUGE doses of vitamin C and probably of vitamin D. I had a gum infection and took 40 grams of vitamin C in 24 hours, then 20 grams a day for a couple of days, and the infection went away. Normally, 10 or 12 grams would give most people, including me, loose bowels, but when a person is sick, the body uses much more, so the loose bowels happen at a very high dose.
